STOCKHOLM & SWEDISH FISH

Hej from Stockholm! Right now it's midnight here in the Swedish capital and I still can't sleep. Well I'll be heading back to Copenhagen tomorrow after being in the Nordic region for over a week.

Stockholm has to be hands down THE hippest city in Europe topping over London. Where else can you find some of the best stocked independent stores from Swedish labels and the coolest-looking-attractive bunch of people?

Well more on Stockholm and the rest of my trip once I get back.

Hej Hej!

OFF TO SWEDEN AND FINLAND

Well, midterms are over, just had our project presentation yesterday and my Danish oral midterm today. Now I'm home packing for our trip to Sweden and Finland. We're leaving tomorrow in the morning to Stockholm, Sweden which is roughly a 6 hour ride. Then we are heading to Turku, Jyvaskyla and Helsinki, Finland and then back to Stockholm. Totaling 4 days in 4 days in Sweden and 4 days in Finland.

Honestly I can't wait to see the rest of Scandinavia but a little afraid of how cold it will get up there...Janice and I are staying an extra two days in Stockholm after our trip with the school.
Stockholm has been on my to visit list ever since the being here in Europe...and so I'm
excited. I'll have to see how the too-cool-for-school- shops in Stockholm stacks up to Copenhagen's.

I'll be back on the 17th of March...

email me and I'll try to get on online as much as I can during the trip!

These pictures are photographed by our school at the end of our presentations.
The first one is from last semester's project, a design for a recreational facility.
The second is from our first assignment of this semester of an Alvar Aalto auditorium that we will see on our trip to Finland.

BUSY BEE

Hey guys its been a busy weekend: meeting up with friends for drinks, working in studio, dinner with aunt and uncle, Europan 9 exhibition, and some first Sunday of the month window shopping. Sorry for the non-posts on my winter travels. Our final project deadline is this Wednesday so expect little to no posts these next couple of days.

But yet I found time to do an overload of blog reading...so much has been happening this past week and bloggers just can't seem to stay away from their laptops and I can't stay away from clicking the refresh button!

Anyways...until next time.

BACK TO BLACK

Look who's in Paris today? None other than Princess Coldstare, wait a minute is that a smile, a glance of her inner mouth?

her site may be dead, but she's definitely making her rounds this season...

SMUK DANSK TINGS

Today was extremely windy with winds @ 40km/h! It felt like I was going to blow over @ any minute...biking was worse and I should have ridden backwards seeing the winds as strong as they were.

Besides the weather, it was a relaxing da
y, therefore being ondsdag, select museums and galleries were free of entrance and therefore I headed out to the Dansk Design Center.

Unknowingly, there was an soirée going on. It happened t
o be the opening evening for the "Muuto-Business i Design" exhibition. Muuto is a Danish company of collective designers producing design products, just like Italian's Alessi.

The crowd was a usual mix
of creative minds- designers, buyers, fashionlites, djs and surprisngly, parents with their kids, nonetheless the parents looked and dressed as if they came out of a Scandinavian label's lookbook. Kids @ a design exhibition opening? Explains why they are so design conscious.
There were some standout products such as this storage system above by Pil Bredhal. It's an ever changing system, allowing for a wide variety of needs and composition, and best of all, it is easy to transport since every cylinder fits within another! design + practicality= danish.

Then off to the smaller halls was another exhibit, "The Danish Gift", which displays a vast variety of design products deriving from Denmark. Walking through the exhibit, I realized that much of the products I saw were the products being used in my host family's home and that many of them are stocked in design stores back in the states. Practically everyone in America owns a piece of Danish design, can u guess what it is?

OMG OMG OMG OMG

Busy...no time to blog...but the minute they came out...OMG OMG....

any guesses? winner gets a danish polser hotdog from me...

Genius.

DON'T MESS WITH ME

It's the last week of February...and you know what that means...

As far as I am concerned she has won the battle of words, besides she's on home turf...

Anyways if anyone noticed, there's a big gap between the first post to the more recent ones...that's because I never updated ever since I left for the month long winter vacation.

So, in the upcoming days, I will begin to post up stuff starting from the Christmas week all the way up to the end of January...sorry for the confusion and the mixed entries...but, hey, you asked for it!
